City Break in South West England Tour Location
Day 1  
Arrive at Bristol Airport.
Collect Hire Car and drive into the centre of Bristol, check into hotel and begin a day of discover and experience! Head down to the Harbourside, with it’s cool galleries, media centre and old warehouses transformed into trendy waterside bars.

@Bristol, the city's millennium project is a must – it hosts a living rainforest, a thrilling world of hands-on discovery and the biggest 3D-cinema screen in the South West. If it’s history and heritage you’re after visit the ss Great Britain, Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s most inspired achievement as the worlds first iron-hulled steam powered ship. To get a great feel of the city hop on a harbour ferry and see Bristol from the water – an impressive site – or take an open top bus tour stopping at all the major attractions. See a show at the oldest working theatre in the country, the Old Vic or see the world famous Bristol Blue Glass being blown at the new visitor centre. Shopping in the Old City along Corn Street or in Clifton Village is a must for all visitors – from small boutiques to markets and intriguing bric-a-brac. In the near vicinity is the Royal West of England Academy, the oldest art gallery in Bristol which shows a varied programme of exhibitions all year round.

Have dinner in The West End. Overnight in Bristol.

Day 2  
Take the short drive to Bath, one of the world’s great cities.
Start with a coffee at Sally Lunn’s, reputedly Bath’s oldest house, home to a museum and the world-famous bun still baked from a recipe handed down through the generations. Walk across the famous Pultney Bridge and head down Great Pultney Street. Visit the Roman Baths and sample some of the famous natural thermal water and also The Museum of Costume. View the amazing Bath Abbey including the Abbey Heritage Vaults. For literary enthusiasts a must is the Jane Austen Centre, which explores her life in Bath and her famous novels.

Have lunch in one of the many lovely café’s and then stroll up to the Royal Crescent set against the greenery of Royal Victoria Park. A traditional afternoon tea can be taken in the Pump Room (next to the Roman Baths) before a relaxing afternoon spent enjoying Britain’s only natural thermal waters at Thermae Bath Spa – the new complex with it’s thermal baths and magnificent roof top pool.

Have dinner in the one of Bath’s many award winning traditional pubs. Overnight in Bath.

Day 3  
Heading to the Regency Cheltenham, stopping on the way at one of the area’s gardens. Many excellent gardens, both large and small, famous and unknown can be found in a copy of the ‘Through the Garden Gate’ leaflet . It’s available at selected Tourist Information Centres. Highlights have to include, Westonbirt Arboretum, Abbey House Gardens and Pound Hill House Garden.

Arrive in Cheltenham, heading first for the area of Montpellier with its specialist boutiques, individual shops and pavement café’s.

Follow the Romantic Road tour for the afternoon, taking you around the beautiful Cotswold villages of Winchcombe, Stanway, Stanton, Chipping Campden, Moreton-in-Marsh and Stow-on-the-Wold returning back to Cheltenham. Copies of the Romantic Road itinerary are available from Tourist Information Centres, book shops and other outlets across the Cotswolds. Why not make it even more romantic and hire a Morgan for the weekend and make it a truly memorable trip!

Dinner in a cosy Cotswold pub. Overnight either in Cheltenham or one of the Cotswold villages.

Day 4  
From Cheltenham drive now to The Royal Forest of Dean, filled with beautiful places to visit including Blaisdon, Blakney, Coleford, Drybrook and Netherend.

The Sculpture Trail, situated in the heart of the forest is truly magical. Take in the magnificent views from the top of the gorge at Symonds Yat overlooking the Wye Valley. Sample some great local wine at the Three Choirs Vineyard in Newent, visit the National Birds of Prey Centre, and see the ancient iron ore mines at Clearwell Caves. Experience walking through a true Forest of Dean Freemine at the Hopwell Colliery Museum.

Drive to Bristol Airport to drop off hire car for return flight.
